Lane continues to make progress. He is enjoying the pool and the freedom it brings to him. Mom has been looking at places in Sacramento for Lane’s discharge and he is excited about coming "Home", being around friends and family and moving on to the next steps in his recovery. His muscles continue to wake up and gain strength. He is becoming more proficient with his power chair and we are looking into a wheelchair accessible van. He heard about the Comedy Show turn out last night and is extremely grateful all of the support. He is looking forward to attending one when he can. Thank you to everyone for your ongoing support.

Had a good conversation with Lane tonight. Today was his first day without visitors as per his request. He is wanting to see what being by himself feels like which according to his doctors is a good step for him to be taking. He is finishing up his application to American River College so that he can have the opportunity to go back to school and finish his AA as well as take some adaptive PE classes. He is having us look into Sacramento opportunities for his next step and there seem to be more options. He is VERY excited as he is going in the pool tomorrow for the first time for PT and can’t wait to be weightless. He had a visitor over the weekend that went through Valley Med and had a similar injury so they were able to talk and he got some good "insider" info from her especially with regards to dating as well as the importance of a positive attitude and pushing himself in PT. It looks like he is tentatively set to discharge on the 16th of June. Trapper paid him a visit over the weekend which he enjoyed. He is excited about the turn outs for the upcoming comedy shows and can’t wait to go to one in the future. All things considered he seems to be in a good place and looking forward to getting out of the hospital and on with his life. Thank you to everyone for their continued support.

Invite your friends. Enjoy laughs because that’s the kind of guy Lane Edwards, 32 years is and now is in a motorized wheel chair fighting for the return of his motor nervous system.

Spoke with Lane tonight and he is in really good spirits. Through much advocating by him and his family his discharge date has been extended to June 16th. The treatment team continues to be impressed by his improved functioning. He is practicing rolling himself in bed which would help to eliminate the need for 24 hour care. In addition he is able to move the fingers in both his left and right hands and now has gained functionality in his right foot as well. He tried the standing harness for the first time today and puked his guts out but is excited to try it again. He goes into the pool for the first time in the next day or so and can’t wait to be "weightless". He went on another outing to the movies and saw the new X-Men movie with his fellow SCI crew. His attitude is much more optimistic as is his desire to advocate and take control of his circumstances.
